WHO WE ARE
The USNSCC is a national youth leadership development organization that promotes interest and skill in naval disciplines while instilling strong moral character and life skills through leadership and technical programs modeled after the Navy's professional development system.
WHAT WE DO
The Yorktown Division serves to teach individuals about the sea-going military services, United States Naval operations and training, community service, citizenship, and an understanding of discipline and teamwork.
HOW WE DO IT
The Yorktown Division operates very much like a military reserve unit. We drill twice a month. Cadets have the opportunity to learn skills from active duty & military veterans, who are experts in their fields. We train primarily aboard the historic USS Yorktown.
The United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps Yorktown Division was formed in Charleston, South Carolina a city rich in U.S. Naval history, The Yorktown Division is the third oldest continually operating USNSCC division, formed October 11th 1961.
The Yorktown Division is unique in that we conduct our drill aboard one of the most famous U.S. Naval Vessels in history, the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier. When ashore from "The Fighting Lady" we also drill aboard Joint Base Charleston - Naval Weapons Station.
The Yorktown Division is currently commanded by LTJG John Overman and his staff of dedicated officers, instructors and adult volunteers.
